Frequently Asked Questions

General Product Information

What types of transfers do you offer?

We specialize in three types of high-quality transfers:

·       DTF (Direct-to-Film): For fabric applications on cotton, polyester, and blends. Ideal for apparel like t-shirts, hoodies, and tote bags.

·       Glitter DTF: Adds sparkle and texture to fabric designs. Perfect for eye-catching apparel and accessories.

·       UV DTF: Designed for hard surfaces including glass, metal, plastic, and ceramics. Great for tumblers, signs, and promotional items.

All transfers are printed at 300+ DPI resolution for professional-quality results.

Do you sell individual transfers or only gang sheets?

We exclusively offer gang sheets with a 1-foot minimum order. Gang sheets allow you to print multiple designs on a single sheet, reducing costs and material waste. You can use our gang sheet builder tool at www.tcpcdtf.store to arrange your designs efficiently.

What makes your transfers different from competitors?

Our transfers feature:

·       Hot peel film technology for fast, clean application (peel while hot after just 5 seconds)

·       300+ DPI high-resolution printing for sharp, vibrant designs

·       Durability of 50+ wash cycles with no visible wear when applied correctly

·       Design assistance services for customers who need help

·       Optional heat pressing service if you prefer us to handle application

What is your production capacity and turnaround time?

Our production capacity is:

·       DTF: 64 linear feet by 22" per hour

·       Glitter DTF: 25 linear feet by 12" per hour

·       UV DTF: 20 linear feet by 11" per hour

We maintain inventory of 1500+ feet of film and inks. Standard restocking takes 24-48 hours for general supplies, and 12-48 hours for specific film or ink needs. Orders ship via UPS with standard delivery times.

File Preparation & Design Requirements

What file formats do you accept?

We accept PNG, PDF, SVG, and AI file formats. All files must be at least 300 DPI for optimal print quality.

What software should I use to create my designs?

We recommend:

·       Adobe Photoshop

·       Affinity Designer

·       Adobe Illustrator

·       Canva (ensure exports are 300 DPI)

How do I use your gang sheet builder tool?

Our gang sheet builder is available at www.tcpcdtf.store and features:

·       AI-powered layout optimization

·       Automatic background removal

·       Color swapping capabilities

·       300 DPI image requirement

Simply upload your designs, arrange them on the sheet, and submit your order. The tool helps you maximize space and minimize waste.

What are the most common design mistakes?

The most frequent issue we see is artwork quality—specifically images that are below 300 DPI. Low-resolution images will appear pixelated or blurry when printed. Always check your file resolution before uploading. If you need design assistance, we provide one-on-one training and support.

What types of designs are most popular?

Our customers most frequently order:

·       Sports team logos

·       Business logos and branding

·       Seasonal designs (holidays, sports events, trending themes)

·       Custom text for birthdays, bereavement, and special occasions

Application Instructions

What heat press settings should I use for DTF transfers on cotton?

For cotton fabrics:

1.      Pre-press: 3 seconds to remove moisture

2.      Press: 315-325°F for 10-15 seconds at medium pressure

3.      Peel: Hot peel after 5 seconds (our hot peel film allows immediate removal)

4.      Second press: 5 seconds to set the transfer

What heat press settings should I use for polyester?

For polyester fabrics:

1.      Pre-press: 3 seconds to remove moisture

2.      Press: 270-300°F for 7-15 seconds at medium pressure

3.      Peel: Hot peel after 5 seconds

4.      Second press: 5 seconds to set the transfer

Note: Lower temperature for polyester prevents scorching and fabric damage.

What does "hot peel" mean?

Hot peel means you remove the transfer film while the transfer is still hot, approximately 5 seconds after pressing. Our hot peel film technology allows for fast, clean application without waiting for the transfer to cool. This speeds up your production process significantly.

How do I apply UV DTF transfers to hard surfaces?

UV DTF transfers work on glass, metal, plastic, and ceramic surfaces. Application instructions:

1.      Clean the surface thoroughly and ensure it's completely dry

2.      Peel the transfer from the backing

3.      Apply to the surface, smoothing out any air bubbles

4.      Burnish firmly with a squeegee or credit card

5.      Carefully peel away the top layer

No heat press required for UV DTF transfers.

Can I use a household iron instead of a heat press?

We strongly recommend using a heat press for consistent temperature, pressure, and timing. Household irons don't provide even pressure or accurate temperature control, which can result in poor adhesion and shortened durability. If you don't have a heat press, we offer a heat pressing service—we can apply the transfers for you.

Durability & Care

How long will the transfers last?

When applied correctly using our recommended settings, our transfers last 50+ wash cycles with no visible wear. There are no washing restrictions for properly applied transfers.

How should customers care for items with DTF transfers?

For best results:

·       Wash inside-out in cold or warm water

·       Tumble dry on low or hang dry

·       Avoid bleach and fabric softeners

·       Do not iron directly on the transfer (iron inside-out if needed)

What surfaces are compatible with UV DTF transfers?

UV DTF transfers adhere to:

·       Glass (tumblers, mirrors, windows)

·       Metal (water bottles, signs)

·       Plastic (phone cases, containers)

·       Ceramics (mugs, tiles)

They work on any smooth, hard surface that's clean and dry.

Troubleshooting

Why is my transfer peeling or cracking?

Common causes include:

·       Incorrect temperature: Verify your heat press temperature with a thermometer. Too low = poor adhesion; too high = scorching.

·       Insufficient pressure: Medium pressure is required for proper bonding.

·       Incorrect timing: Follow the 10-15 second press time for cotton, 7-15 seconds for polyester.

·       Fabric type: Some performance fabrics with moisture-wicking coatings don't accept transfers well.

·       Skipping pre-press: Always pre-press for 3 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.

My design looks faded or dull after application. What happened?

This usually indicates:

·       Over-pressing: Too much time or temperature can dull colors, especially on polyester.

·       Fabric color: Dark fabrics may make colors appear less vibrant. Ensure your design accounts for the base fabric color.

·       Low-quality artwork: Images below 300 DPI may appear faded when enlarged.

The transfer isn't sticking to the fabric. What should I do?

Check these factors:

·       Temperature too low: Increase heat press temperature within the recommended range.

·       Insufficient pressure: Increase to medium pressure.

·       Fabric contamination: Pre-press to remove sizing, moisture, or fabric softener residue.

·       Pressing time too short: Ensure you're pressing for the full recommended time.

Can I get a refund or replacement if something goes wrong?

We stand behind our product quality. If you receive a defective transfer or experience shipping damage, contact us immediately. We handle returns and refunds on a case-by-case basis. However, if the issue is related to application technique or artwork quality, we'll work with you to troubleshoot and provide education to ensure success on your next order.
