How to care for dtf prints prior to pressing onto the apparel.

To keep your DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers in top condition before pressing, you want to protect them from moisture, dust, and excessive heat/light — all of which can ruin the adhesive or cause color fading. Here’s a solid storage & care routine:
1. Store Flat (Not Rolled) When Possible
- Keep sheets flat in a clean drawer or shelf to avoid curling.
- If you must roll, roll loosely with the print side facing outward and avoid tight bends.
2. Keep in a Cool, Dry Place
- Ideal temp: 60–75°F (15–24°C)
- Humidity: 40–60% (too much moisture can cause the powder adhesive to clump or stick before pressing).
- Avoid direct sunlight, heaters, or hot press areas — prolonged heat can start melting the adhesive.
3. Use Protective Sleeves or Bags
- Store prints in resealable poly bags or clear sleeves to protect from dust and lint.
- If stacking, place silicone/parchment sheets between transfers so they don’t stick to each other.
4. Avoid Excessive Handling
- Oils from your hands can damage the print surface or cause spots when pressing.
- Handle by the edges whenever possible.
5. Label & Rotate Stock
- Mark the print date so you press older transfers first — DTF transfers are best used within 3–6 months for maximum adhesion.
6. Transport with Care
- If you’re taking them to events or clients, keep them flat between two pieces of cardboard and inside a moisture-resistant bag.
